CONFIGER 1.0 - An Automatic System Configuration tool.
(c) 1989 S-Systems Software
All Rights Reserved
Configer is a program that will help you manage your different
config.sys files. If you have several versions of config files
in your root directory of your boot disk, then you can use this
program to easily view and install the config file that you want
to boot from.
-REGISTRATION-
This program is shareware. If you use this program than you
should register it with the author. In return for your registration
I will send you a complete configuration system that will allow you
to set up autoexec as well as any type of configuration files
for your applications.
To Register your copy send $15 dollars U.S to
S-Systems Software
32 Woodlawn Ave.
Bridgewater N.J. 08807
-INSTALLATION-
To use Configer, copy it to any directory that is listed in your
PATH statement. To execute the command just type CONFIGER, in
this version there are no command line arguments.
-ASSUMPTIONS-
This version of Configer makes several assumptions about your
system. If you have your system configured like most users that
have AT type computers then you should be able to use this
program without any problem. If you do not then you are not out
of luck, but you will be out 15 bucks to get a registered copy
that does not make this assumptions.
Here they are:
o The config files must be named CONFIG.xxx
You supply the xxx's.
o All config files must reside in the root directory of
drive C:.
-OPERATION-
After typing configer you will see a window that has all the
config files found on your system. Use the arrow keys to select
the config file that you wish to operate on. Once the file has
been highlighted you may do one of two things.
Key commands:
o F1 will copy the file selected to CONFIG.SYS. This is
the main use for configer.
o ENTER will open a second window and display the
contents of the config file selected. Press Escape
after you have studied the file and decided if this is
the one you wish to copy.
o Escape will exit the program.
Because you copy the config.sys file from another one you should
make a default config file. The current config.sys file will be
a copy of one of the others. For instance you could have:
config.sys
config.max
config.net
config.def
When config.def is the config file you want to be loaded then
you would select config.def and press F1. After exiting the
program, reboot the computer and the new config.sys will be
loaded.
-DISCLAIMER-
The author of this program and S-Systems Software make no
warranty on the use of this program. It is your responsibility
to verify that the program works on your system. A Good amount
of testing has been done and it should work fine for you.
